‘No one is too small to make a difference’ Greta Thunberg

Low Waste Whitchurch is a community group, who aim to encourage ourselves and others to combat climate change and support green initiatives. We believe many small actions can make big changes.

A carbon-neutral Whitchurch by the end of the decade – 2030

To inspire local people, local businesses, local opinion-formers and local government to take action to make Whitchurch carbon neutral by 2030

Low Waste Whitchurch stands for using the world’s resources wisely and is against squandering what we have. We have adopted a very broad view of waste to include things like fossil fuels. If we burn fossil fuels, we create waste in the form of harmful greenhouse gases. If we turn instead to sustainable, renewable energy sources such as solar, wind and hydroelectricity, we reduce our carbon footprint. If we support tree planting, we offset carbon waste to reduce our carbon footprint further. But it’s also about rethinking our day to day choices; refusing single-use plastics, reducing consumption, composting organic waste, reusing, repairing, repurposing and sharing resources more
